Discoveries:

Today I discovered that I have a budding adolescent. He’s only twelve but I declare he’s been on this earth before, he’s an old man trapped in a young person’s body; he reads novels, enjoys a good nap and chews with his mouth open. He talks like he’s a theology professor and somehow, he still thinks girls are gross. This year he started seventh grade and next year he’ll be thirteen and on his way to the big leagues. To keep him ahead of the curve I have already started schooling him about high school, driving and girls. Hell, we’ve even had “the talk” about the birds and the bees. I realize now how important it is to establish family norms and set a good routine, already he has set a daily to-do list that starts early in the morning with his 6:30am practice and ends with a 9:00pm bedtime. But I’m no drill sergeant; kids need to have fun too. As much as I detest 1st person shooter games it’d be cruel of me to not let him get in a little XBOX action in from time to time.  Keep me in prayer!

High Points:

Recently I made the decision to hit the reset button on my career. Aside from the compensation and long term job security concerns, I no longer felt motivated to get out of bed and report for duty. The potential died. Nothing is more frustrating than knowing that you’ve arrived at a place in your life where you know for certain that you’ve wasted your time. I am a firm believer in the value of time. It’s one of the few things that you can be lost and never found again. You can’t get it back.  Each company I have worked for has been special in its own way. Each of them Fortune 100’s with great reputations, however over the last decade in between meetings, presentations, prospecting, pitching and I have discovered my passions. So, it’s not a total loss. There were innumerable highlights, frankly too many to remember or list. The great news is that I have started a new career path with an extremely well-known global company and I intend to make my mark there just as I have done in the past.

Themes for the Day

·
·         Can I get a “do-over”?
·         I’m tired of jobs, I need a career!
·         Of course, I’d love to interview with you

Low Points:

I’ve started a routine. I get it, routines are supposed to keep you focused and grounded but there’s something inhibitive about being boxed in. Feeling like the sky is the limit motivates me. I have never liked structure because I feel like it impasses the creative process but at the same time it teaches you discipline. I will conform but promise to have a little fun it as to not get demotivated by to-do lists.

Answer: A new job that better fits my skill set

I seriously wish that I could hit the reset button on my choice of residence. I thought I could live around my people, but I see I should have been a lot more uppity in narrowing down my search. You see six years ago, I had thought I did all my research about all the pitfalls of homeownership. I did everything right from building my credit to get an affordable loan to sacrificing on having a bachelor lifestyle because I stayed with my parents to save up enough money for a down payment. However, after I moved in to my first place the first 6 months was straight heaven. That lasted briefly until the housing market fell and everybody and I mean everybody started renting out their cribs to Section 8 to cover their second mortgage. The sad thing is as upset as that made me because renters don't give a shit about a house or kids, rather yet the neighborhood. As soon as I pay off a couple of debts it looks like I'm going to join them in a few cause there is no such thing as a piece of mind living in the hood. That's my rant.
