Today I discovered that human beings have the power to total recall. Unlike the Hollywood blockbuster starring Colin Farrell or the original cult classic starring the governator, in my life I have amassed a hodgepodge of experiences, many of which stand vivid mind. Much like a sponge I have taken in my surroundings and soaked in life like a sponge. This has helped me recall. Sometimes I yank from the good and other times I pull from the bad. Doing this allows one to have a complete perspective. When things are going well I am humbled because I remember when I couldn’t rub two nickels to together to make ends meet. When times are rough I summon up those times when I was rollin’ in the dough and realize that troubles don’t last always. I challenge you to take moments to recall so you can live a total life.

DAILY INSANITY:
Two Words: Olive Garden
If you haven’t heard, unlimited soup, salad and breadsticks is now a mainstay at the Olive Garden. I recently reacquainted my taste buds with the zesty goodness of Italian dressing crisp lettuce and hearty soup. I could go on and on about how fulfilling their delights are but I won’t. Instead, I will merely invite you to locate the nearest restaurant and get the OG special. Tell them John sent you.

I’ve found my
way back home! Nearly fifteen years ago I began an amazing career with a
telecommunications company that was poised to make a huge impact on America
with their technology and innovation. I started at the bottom of the corporate
ladder (so to speak). As an entry level rep I learned about the value of
customer service and how to use my personality to sell products and ideas. Over
time I made lots of money and business connections that would eventually propel
me into management. As the years passed I took on several leadership roles and
travelled the country taking assignments in call centers and corporate offices.
One would believe that with all of the fortune that befell e that I would
remain a catalyst at the company that groomed me into the professional that I
am today but things change, feelings change. Eight years into my career path I
found solace in the arms of a competitor. I made the decision to seek out a new
experience. A few of my personal needs that went unsatisfied at my current company
could be satisfied at this new job. Grant it, my time there was exciting, I
made nearly twice as much money and it was a fast-paced environment where the
possibilities seemed endless. The atmosphere was more relaxed and it took me
out of the box I was placed in. But what I didn’t realize was that I needed the
structure. After a few years the luster dulled and promises were broken.
Management changed and so did the culture. Soon after I felt dissatisfied and
missed my old home. So now, after five years away I am going back home to
finish out my career. Thanks for welcoming me back with open arms.

Low Points:
I’m a city boy, through and through but somehow I have ended up in the
country. Don’t get me wrong, I my southern lifestyle and the charm that Texas
brings but sometimes I miss the vibrancy of the city. Who doesn’t like the
flickering lights and sounds? Public transit, corner stores, hustle man, real
expressways and noise. Soon I will get my chance to experience it all again.
