Birthday Gift Sandwich

Discoveries:

Today I discovered how and why we grow old gracefully. There is a difference between aging and growing old. One involves a natural seasoning and maturation from life whereas the other stems from volatile living and decision-making. Growing old is like the amazing summation of a life well lived. It comes in its due time but aging on the other hand is brought upon us by keeping up drama, strife, deceit and living an irresponsible life. That’s the reason why some people look forty when they are actually thirty-five and why others are pushing sixty but still rock-climb, ride Harley’s and play pickup games at the gym with folks half their age. On December 15th I celebrated my 33rd birthday and let me tell you,I’m growing old (gracefully).

(Meant to be played while reading)

High Points:

I have two high points to discuss today - - -

#1 – Good basketball My brother Shohn Williams aka Shaky Shohn, aka Mr. Lights Out, aka King of the Hill sent me some very entertaining videos of him playing pickup basketball games and holding his own at a Chicago gym. Looks like he’s still got the moves that made him famous!

#2-- I am all done with most of my Christmas shopping, at least for the kids. Buying the right gift is a science nowadays. The gifts you buy, make and give say something about the type of person you are. More importantly, the gift makes a statement about how you feel about the person you are giving the gift to. I still need to find gifts for a few more people who hold a special place in my heart so I better get to it.

Themes for the Day

The joy is in the giving

You better not re-gift it either!

Where’s the wrapping paper, scissors and tape?

Whose name did I pull in the office grab bag again?

Low Points:

I’ve been snoring. No wait, I snore. ME, I snore? How did this start? I am genuinely perplexed about this. I feel so sorry for my spouse, who has to endure my loud emissions each night. Wait, am I? In fact, that brings up an interesting point: Why do people who don’t snore get so angry with people who do? Are they actually staying up late, on purpose so they can hear your rumbling sounds? That’s weird. I grew up in a house with people who snored and it never bothered me. I never got angry enough to wake them up and yell expletives at them in a furious vengeance. Not saying that my wife does that, she would never, ever, ever come down on me for snoring, like, ever. People, it’s a natural body response just tune it out? My rant is over.

DAILY INSANITY:
Two Words: Perfect Sandwich
I love sandwiches. They are the perfect afternoon meal. The varieties are endless, literally. Recently I have been on a mission to have a sandwich for lunch each day for the whole month of December. I know that’s kind of lame but hey, don’t knock my personal goals, no matter how shallow they are.
