Discoveries:
Today I discovered that
your surroundings affect how you feel. Consider the negative side of that comment;
imagine how differently you’d approach life if you were trapped in a jail cell,
poverty stricken village or inner city crime zone. However, in a more immediate
sense, cogitate on the notion that our mental surroundings also create the
backdrop for how we think. In other words, it’s possible to be in a palatial
estate, penthouse loft or island villa and still feel trapped, afraid,
inadequate or helpless. I challenge you as a reader to free yourself using your
mind. It’s so much easier (and cheaper) to take a mental vacation from the
nonsense and whisk yourself away to your favorite place of solace. As I get
older I realize that we should all try to live life like there’s no tomorrow
but sometimes today traps us. Don’t let it, use the power of positive thought
to set yourself straight.
The definition
of the word “wealth” is rather relative; its explanation depends on who’s been
chosen to explain it. For most, when you hear people fling and toss around the concept
of wealth they conjure up images of money with overflowing bank accounts and assets
like cars, homes, furniture and electronics. Nonetheless, if the ill-fated are
posed the same request; what is wealth? They’d describe wealth entirely
different. They would explain how true wealth involved amassing possessions
with intrinsic value like love, respect and happiness. Perhaps it takes a bit
of both. This quandary prompted a feverish search on the web for clues about
which side of the fence I should release my straddle to. What I found was interesting.
I searched for symbols on Google images that explained wealth, then I searched
for images that depicted money and the same photo appeared.
How amazing.

Low Points:
The year 2013 will be here in no time and I have failed to meet more than
half of the goals I set for myself. Call them stretch targets, tasks that take
effort, concentration and focus to complete. To cite examples, I set out to do
the following in 2012:
· Lose 30lbs and get back to college weight
· Teach my son how to read (fluently) by kindergarten
· Visit a foreign country for at least one week for vacation
DAILY INSANITY:
One Word: Basketball
Thank God for the game, as I watched Team USA
win a Gold Medal I sat in my living room wondering if the game gave them as much
pleasure as it gives me. Shooting hoops is like therapy for me, the office is
the court, the doctor is the rim and the conversation is the broken union between
my hands and the basketball. I’m no Jordan, in fact, I have lost much of what
made me a great player; explosive jumping ability, laser beam quickness,
unmatched endurance but what I gained over time is a deadly mid-range jump shot,
outstanding court vision and basketball IQ. It’s a fair tradeoff in my book.
Let me go find a pickup game at the gym so I can ball out!
