Discoveries:
Today I discovered that life is like gumbo. Anyone can be phenomenal and impact the world. Take time to contemplate what you just read? YES, I’m telling you what to do. How amazing a gift is life, each day we are given an opportunity to do something that will leave an impression on the world. Believe it or not, a small pebble can make waves in a large pond. Whatever our talent, gift or contribution to life is we all have one. Be it that our actions are positive or negative, much like yin and yang, help create balance. Even villains should be embraced because if for no other reason they show us how to be heroes. We would not embrace the marvelous light without understanding the dejection of the dark. We would not appreciate the quiet without a world full of noise. Joy would not be as joyous without pain. So whether you have decided to devote your existence to a life of crime or you have embraced the religious cloth, each person contributes to the fabric of our existence. It all makes the gumbo better.

High Points:

My fifteen year high school reunion is right around the corner and I am so excited. Looking back over the years I can honestly say that high school made me and my fellow graduates better.  Some of us became business professionals, doctors, lawyers, athletes, and the such. As we celebrate the standouts let’s also acknowledge the champions that faced adversity and pressed through. The victory comes in merely surviving. Everyone didn’t make it. Let us also recognize the day laborers, teachers, craftsman and excellent parents. Shame on us if we forget about that beautiful girl in high school who showed courage when she found out that she was pregnant and decided to keep the baby. Let’s smile for that boy or girl who decided to face the current and swim against the tide when it wasn’t popular for boy to like boys or girls to like girls. Be thankful for the guys and gals who , well, made it. We are all success stories; we are movers, shakers, travelers, homeowners, churchgoers and family anchors. Focus clearly on the future but never forget the clarity of our past, our hearts depend on that transparency in our minds to guide us forward.

Themes for the Day

·         When is the Reunion
·         Where did I put my yearbook?
·         She looks exactly the same as she did in high school!
·         I would’ve never thought he’d turn out like that

Low Points:

This may seem very dumb to you but it bothers the heck out of me. I consider myself to be a pretty bright guy but as smart as I am I can’t seem to beat a handful of people in the popular mobile game WORDS WITH FRIENDS. Surely you’ve heard of it, you might have even played it on your smartphone. I have annihilated dozens of would-be opponents but no matter how many times I challenge this select group of people I lose. Sometimes I get beaten by a few points, other times it’s a massacre. It frustrates me to repeatedly lose. Reminds me of pickup games in my high-school gym class. Each time I played felt like my team had comparable, if not superior skill levels but, almost every time I’d always be on the receiving end of the “L”. I am a 5-time published author who can spit out a book in 6-months., I write a 1000 word blog almost every day have read hundreds of books, magazines and articles in my lifetime but I can’t seem to beat these word game masters. I salute the following people but know I’m coming after you!

·         Maya Williams – My wife (She relentlessly kicks my ass then hugs me and rubs my forehead)
·         Guy Johnson – Colleague and Former Employee (He comes up with some ridiculous words)
·         Geno Jackson – One of my Best Friends and Business Partner (Geno will go up and lead the whole damn game)

DAILY INSANITY:

Four Words: I need a vacation

It’s time man, need I say more. I work extremely hard, it’s time to find a beach or a town with some crackin’ nightlife and unwind. I need to be gone for at least a 4-7 days.
