Relax Recuperate & Respect

Discoveries:

Today I discovered how wonderful relaxing is. I am the king of get-up-and-go. Despite the fact that I wear my head bald this past weekend I decided to let my proverbial hair down. During the week I hit the gym, pow-wow with clients, take meetings and rip-n-run. Sometimes I forget to slow down and take a rest. On weekends I respond to my body’s screams for relaxation. I throw on my robe, feed my belly with tasty snacks, sit on my couch, and prop my feet up on the ottoman and then get some well-deserved R&R. Without rest we run the risk of burning out.

High Points:

I beat my cold. Well, not alone. Thanks to cabinets full of medicine, fluids and a lot of TLC from my wife and kids I have beat my flu-like symptoms. Imagine a 33 year old man behaving like a four year old. I whined, complained, moaned and groaned. I ached, spit up mucous, coughed, sneezed and rolled on the floor miserably. I am so thankful that my flu shot worked. What a waste of ten minutes and a co-pay.

Hold on, let me grab my scarf, I’m not getting sick again

I get it, you wanna stay well but must you spray Lysol on everything babe?

Low Points:

I had to unleash the old me on my son. Why don’t today’s kids believe that fat meat is greasy? I love my children, God knows I do but I’d die before I let any of my children speak to me with disrespect. Now I’d never encourage child abuse but I am a firm believer in maintaining order in one’s household and teaching children to show respect for their elders. I had to pop both of my kids this weekend for being flip mouth. I taught them both the same valuable lesson that my mother taught me growing up, you honor your parents,,,or else. In the end, they understood and apologized for their insolence then I hugged them both to reassure them that I loved them. Perhaps if more parents stood firm with their children we’d have better students, safer streets and we’d be more concerned about cultivating their potential rather than correcting their deficiencies.

DAILY INSANITY:

Two Words: Microwaveable Food
Which two words when paired together conjure up more frowns? Stop feeding your body that garbage. I’m all for eating quick but real fast food is right at your fingertips. Have you considered fruits, veggies, nuts?
