ARCADE MANIAC

Musical Inspiration for this BLOG:

SUPER MARIO BROS (Theme Song) - Nintendo

Discoveries:

Today I discovered the beauty of a great night’s sleep! I’m sold, time to switch it up and purchase a king-sized bed. The MGM Grand has spoiled me. To think, all those nights I tossed and turned, awakened in pain and holy terror could have been prevented with a new bed. I slept like an infant in its anionic fluid. I’m sold; I need sleep like that forever.  Now I’m not going to run out and buy me one of those adjustable tempurapedic, sleep math, memory sponge beds. Instead, I will look for one that sits a little high, that’s firm and very durable. The downside is that we’ll have to get all new bedding. Perhaps I’ll donate my old bed to charity. There truly is nothing wrong with it other than the size and the fact that it’s a little too soft for our taste. What do mattresses and box springs rgo for nowadays?

High Points:

I didn’t leave Vegas broke, in fact, I didn’t even gamble. Aside from blowing a few singles on penny slots trying to hit it big I stayed away from that particular vice. Trust me, for every guy that yells in excitement at the top of his lungs because he just beat the casino there’s fifty more guys out there sobbing and heartbroken because they just gambled away their car note, mortgage or grocery money..

Themes for the Day

Leave your debit card with me

I’ll pass on the Texas Hold Em’ tournament

Roulette pays 35-to-1 but is the weakest bet around

Just keep on walkin’, no need to stop at the craps table

Low Points:

I ran out of coins!!!!!!  I literally ran out of quarters for the video game machines.  A good friend of the family took me and my wife off the beaten path and showed us a part of Vegas that I never knew existed; the videogame-head subculture part. There’s an amazing bar in Las Vegas near the old Fremont street lightshow called INSERT COINS. Yes, I typed it correctly, it’s not an error. Imagine 50 of the absolute best classic arcade style video games packed inside of a bar with great music and amazing drinks. INSERT COIN has somehow captured the magic we used to feel as preteens playing classics like Ms. Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Commando, Streetfighter, Double Dragon, Missile Command and other. Each game was a blast from the past. I nearly wet my pants when I saw the game FROGGER and TRON along the back walls in mint condition. INSERT COINS even had a cool option for people who prefer to actually sit at the bar. They had wrap-around 40-inch tv’s that spanned the entire length of the bar and when you ordered your beverage the bartender returned with your libation and a remote control to the game system of your choice. I declare that my wife is the West Coast champion of Soul Caliber, she beat like a hundred villains.

DAILY INSANITY:
Two Words: Timeshare Scams
Beware of all street personnel who offer you free deluxe buffets and Vegas strip shows, all they want to do is sell you some dying, dilapidated, insanely over-priced vacation property that you would demolish upon sight. To make matters worse, they DON’ T make good on their promises. ATTENTION: Crackers, bologna, mild cheddar and Kool-Aid punch is not lunch! Also, if you can’t tell a person what the presentation is about beforehand, it’s probably bogus.

Question
What’s the best part about returning home from vacation???

I am gonna have to try the MGM Grand out... My spot is usually the Stratosphere. The best part about return home is the sense of you made it back safely, your love ones await your arrival, and sometimes back to reality.

Glad you enjoyed your trip. The city has its perks away from the strip. Every time that you visit, you should make it a point to try something off the beaten path.

Cheers!
