It’s been
entirely too long since I put pen to paper. My last blog was mid-year. So much
has happened since the beginning of summer. Rather than bore you with all of
the details, I have created a short list with bullet points to highlight the,
well, highlights…
· Saw myself compete with other Dad’s on Wheel of Fortune
· Made my 1yr anniversary with my company
· Attended 3 really cool concert performances
· Designed and gifted my wife with her dream, tattoo
· Watched my son play on his grade school football team
· Went to Disneyworld for vacation!
Discoveries:
I discovered that I make a
great cheerleader! While I certainly do believe that I can anchor a pompon
pyramid, I don’t mean cheerleader in the literal sense. I see now that I am an excellent motivator.
Opportunities have presented themselves over and over again for me to give a
friend advice, help a co-worker or aid my spouse. Sometimes it’s an inspirational
comment at other times it’s a helping hand. Whatever the case may be, somehow I
am able to get through (to them) and help them achieve their goals. Perhaps
they’re targets. I believe that in order to affect
you must first infect, meaning it’s
imperative to impress upon them, earn their respect and trust first, then in
such a primal and relative way, the experience transforms itself and you are no
longer helping them but together you reach a level of comfort trusting each
other with one another’s lives.
UTTERLY AWESOME LINKS-OF-THE-WEEK
High Points:
We decided to make the trek
to Chicago this holiday season! For the past few years I and my family have
enjoyed the Southern festivities in our Dallas area home. Not this year though,
despite the 1000 mile trip and declining climate we miss the holiday magic.
Road trips aren’t so bad though either, in fact they are kinda cool if you plan
them out correctly. Here is my top ten list of road trip must haves:
2. Water – Energy drinks are filled with sugar
3. mP3’s – Music makes the drive go faster
4. Ultraviolet Movie Collection – 2 hour movies provide brief solace
5. Sunglasses- squinting makes you weary
6. Energy Shot –Especially good for nighttime driving
7. Powerbar –You get all the protein you need in a small bar
8. Car Charger- This one’s obvious
9. Destination “TO DO” list – IT builds the excitement
10. Emergency Cash – Some places don’t take debit or credit
Themes for the Day:
I wonder what the holidays
will be like/I’ll take snow on Christmas but not sooner/On the road
again/Connect the Aux cable to the mP3 player/Wait, don’t knock, let’s surprise
em’/Chicago is my kinda town!
Low Points:
Somehow I got enrolled into a class that I didn’t
need in order to graduate. Trust me, I was as shocked as you are. I did the
proverbial rain dance and scheduled meetings with my academic counselor and
everything. When all of my credit hours from the kaleidoscope of universities
were combined apparently there was some confusion. It’s a shame too because I
was doing well in the course, averaging an “A’”. The time I spent in that class
I could have been taking another and I would have been one step closer to
getting my piece of paper. Geez…
DAILY INSANITY:
One Word: Sleep
I must get some more of it. That is all.

BUZZ WORD: DIPSOMANIAC
Definition: Term for a
person who, because of some psychological or physiological illness, has an
irresistible craving for liquor.
