Discoveries:

Today I discovered that I’m a renaissance man! I write, read, create, sing, play (instruments) study and find ways to absolutely have the time of my life. My brother –in-law recently passed away and in his absence I challenged myself to embrace many of the lessons he taught me. If I learned nothing else from this man, who had arguably the most colossal personality I’ve ever encountered, it was to enjoy life and make the most of each day. He always made it a point to tell the ones closest to him how much he loved them, as if it was ever easy to forget love coming from him. As talented as I personally to others, I am viewed in much more creative and magnificent. They say things like, “Jay, when you talk,,, people listen,” or “John, not everyone can captivate an audience but you can!”  I guess I’m a catalyst of a sort. Between my books, blog, screenplays and radio show     ( www.blogtalkradio.com/creativesoul) I have at least three great outlets to reach the hearts of men and women. So, I’ll do just that, reach, affect, assist and enable as many people as I can before my time on this earth is done. Now that’s living! Rest in peace brother-in-law

High Points:
I turn 34 this week! Wow,,,,time flies when you are having fun. I plan to exhaust all of those free coupons for drinks, appetizers, meals and gifts for the remainder of this weekend. My wife and children have already surprised me with the magnificence of their love but I also received some really amazing gifts. It’s always great getting something you need. The weird thing is that 34 still feels like 27 to me.

Themes for the Day

·         Rest in peace
·         Have no regrets
·         Live your life to the fullest

 Low Points:
I had a career moment of clarity this past weekend and at the end of all of my pondering I realized that sometimes people don’t enjoy doing the things that they do well. Re-read that last sentence and interpret it however you like. There are many working professionals in the workforce who can perform the duties of a job flawlessly but they simply don’t feel the connection they thirst for when they report for duty every day. Should your career feel like duty? Or does that feeling mean you are trapped in a job and not engaged in a career. It’s just something to think about.

DAILY INSANITY:
Four Words: Old School Classic Films
Sit there and act like you didn’t love The Golden Child and The Last Dragon. These two films were instant classics. Who can forget Bruce Leroy and the Shogun of Harlem? The way they used slang and intimidation in that film was funny to no end. By the time the final fight scene occurred we were all cheering for pudding soft Leroy to sock it to Sho’ Nuff!

What about the movie The Golden Child and the way Eddie Murphy made you laugh as he searched for the Crossed Dagger of Ajanti and that weird looking kid who could didn’t talk much but could move rocks with telepathy? Although his dietary preferences were rather bizarre (tree leaves) nobody could fool with his skills. Think about it, who in their right mind would actually eat oatmeal drenched in blood? His sidekick was a bombshell too, even with the pie-face and poor personal style. Here are a few pictures to take you down memory lane:

I've been thinking of my Resolution[s] for a few months. I did really well with my 2012 resolutions after I realized that they were actually visions for my life and I took the entire year to work on them and am still working. My 2012 visions may go into 2013.
