End of an Era

Discoveries:

Today I discovered that 2012 was a challenging year. The good news is that 2013 is right around the corner.  There’s a certain mystique about knowing that a change to turn it all around is right on the bend. I have a laundry list of personal, home, family, career, financial and spiritual improvements that I plan to make. Rather than approach it like a to-do list I will look at it like a restaurant menu and make decisions about transformations as I move through the courses of my life. Perhaps that the way it ought to be. Auld Lang Syne- - -2013 is gaining on us.

High Points:

We have found the right combination of heaters and warming devices to keep the Williams home nice and toasty. My wife and I actually prefer small heaters because if you purchase the correct one you can heat up a room quickly and make the space cozy for a lower cost than cutting on the furnace. Having grown up in the Windy city, my family and I learned how to get creative. Many of the homes were fifty or sixty years old and didn’t have modern conveniences such as central air and heating. Instead they were equipped with radiators and fans.  Below is a collection of energy efficient space heaters that I stand behind with notes about each one to help you leverage use.

Low Points:

Debt: This evil word can wreak havoc on the quality of your lifestyle, ruin marriages and motivate people to do despicable things in hopes of getting ahead. My advice for you for the year 2013 is to make a valiant effort to become debt free. I am almost there thanks to provision from God, a serious work ethic and unexpected blessings from my wife, the economy and my investments. The mere notion that one owes indicates that they have left something incomplete. True completion ushers in peace to your heart while simultaneously stilling your mind. Tackle it one bill at a time, one debtor at a time and soon you’ll pay it off.

DAILY INSANITY:
Three Words: Real Christmas Trees
This year I decided to officially create a tradition where I let my boys choose and buy the family Christmas tree. Naturally the monies for said purchase and mode of transportation come from me but the selection process is all theirs. You should have seen them frolicking around the sales tent comparing trees. The moment was special. At the end of the day they chose a Fraser Fir. It was about six feet tall and it smelled great! Too bad we didn’t water it properly; the needles are on their last leg.

I must be ignorant...1. I never imagined a Texan having to use a space heater. 2. Watering a Chrismas? Is another new one...

I think 2012 has been challenging for us all who are understanding adulthood is real. Myself, I've been in denile for sometime. But it has come down to be the year of grown up decision making or ushering the thought process in. I feel 2013 will be equally as challenging but it'll be our chance to approach in a more confident fashion...my girl just jumped in the car so now the grown decision is to end this post and dedicate my attention to her
