Mad Romantic!

Musical Inspiration for this BLOG:

John Lee Hooker – Goin’ Mad Blues

Discoveries:

Today I discovered that sometimes things just happen, no rhyme or reason, they just happen. Why oh why did Chicago Bulls MVP Derrick Rose fall prey to the dreaded ACL injury. I really don’t understand the full ramifications of such a wound but what I can discern is that it is serious enough to end his NBA season smack dab in the middle of the playoffs. It’s a shame too because Chicagoans playoff hopes were so high. Now, instead of being poised to win a championship or at least make a legitimate run at dethroning the reigning Eastern Conference Champions, the Miami Heat, we fall into the “just average” bucket. This year we will truly see if defense wins championships! The good news is that in addition to owning the best record in the league my beloved Bulls were ranked #1 in defense. They will need all their strength, all their power and all of their love to get through the powerhouses waiting on the other side of the win column. LET’S GO BULLS!

High Points:

I was a Prince Charming, to my wife that is. Every now and again you have to open up your mental dresser drawer and overwhelm your lady with your game. Call it being romantic, suave or thoughtful, this week I have pulled out all of my chivalrous stops to try to speak in her love language. What I found is that as much as she like gifts and things that can be purchased with dough, I don’t need bread to make her smile. Cooking her favorite meal, walking with her through the mall, listening to stories about her day and giving back rubs were just the tip of the iceberg. I earned extra cool points for listening to her, being thoughtful and communicating. Heck, I even sacrificed watching a playoff game and chose to spend my time cuddling up with her to make her happy. Why not, she is not some chick on the street, she is my other half.

Themes for the Day

·         Treat her!

·         She loves hugs & kisses?

·         I am not rich with dollars but I am rich with charm

·         Even Solomon understood how to make women happy

·         Trust me, talk a long walk with her, you won’t regret it bruh!

Low Points:

Last week I blogged about being on this whole cooking kick, so to be consistent with my writing, I decided to visit Whole Foods in hopes of discovering (2) new ingredients to integrate into my recipes. I chose cilantro and Chives. Simple enough herbs to infuse into my dishes,,,,WRONG. Let’s just say that I overdid it. I put those two spices in everything, like,,,,everything.  It tasted fine when I made my Mexican dishes. They were great on a few select cuts of chicken and the seafood I bought from the local fresh market but when I tried to use cilantro on my cream sauce and on my bread, and in my soup it made me want to gag. I have retired the spice; it’s tucked away in the crisper in my fridge (for now).

DAILY INSANITY:
Two Words: Morning Person
Simply put, I don’t think I’m one of em’. I need some help from my readers on how to start my days better and not in a formidable mood.

I can be a morning person, I'm just not a get out of bed person. But once I get up I'm on all cilanders. My routine is essentailly to pray, read the word, eat light, and get to work.
