Test Drive

Discoveries:
Today I discovered that Christmas is just around the corner! Each year we try to top ourselves with decorations, presents, dinner and gifts. However, this year I will stay true to the real reason for the season. After all it is Christ-mas. I can’t wait to display my love for Jesus through my giving. I plan to volunteer at the local shelter in my community and help in any way that I can. In my opinion, spooning out food, while humbling, is a simple task. Homeless shelters and halfway houses need much more help. They need painters and cleaning people, they need furniture and beds, too much to name right now. This year you must remember that in order to get something you’ve never had, you’ve got to do something you’ve never done.

High Points:
Thanksgiving dinner was a huge success. Wifey threw it down! Grant it, I prepared the turkey and some other insignificant dish that doesn’t seem to come to mind right now but she quarterback’d the whole thing. I cannot take any credit away from her. She went out of her way this year to make it special. Instead of the traditional boring recipes she switched it up on a brother. She spent her time and hard earned money on the best ingredients for the feast.  I mean she pulled out all the stops. She whipped out the Paula Dean cookbooks and Rachel Ray magazines then used her intuition and kitchen skills to create a culinary masterpiece. Normally I’m not too thrilled about leftovers, but this year I’m gonna attack them joints in the fridge!

Themes for the Day
I’m stuffed…
Can I have seconds?
This dressing is awesome!
Baby, why are you still up at 2am cooking?
Wow, you sliced fresh strawberries for the shortcake

Low Points:
I am so disappointed in myself. I thought that I had my mind made up on my next vehicle. I was all set. I was going to purchase a safe, friendly, economy-sized Euro car then I reconsidered. Aside from their diminutive size, many of the models are actually lacking in the style department. As a responsible, eco-conscious trainee I feel a sense of accountability for the vehicle decisions I make nowadays. I no longer think it’s cool to have an SUV that looks like a house on wheel and gets 9MPG, nor do I think it’s necessary for me to drive an $80,000 luxury sedan with heated seats to prove that I’ve arrived. No matter what I purchase, I refuse to be influenced by creative marketing, trends, a crazy J-Lo commercial, my ego or price (alone). Wish me well on my car search.

DAILY INSANITY:
Two Words: UNEXPECTED BLESSINGS
I am not big on surprises. In fact, as oddly as it sounds, I would much rather know what’s coming; good or bad rather than be astonished. On the other hand, sometimes the right alignment of conditions occur that force me to retract my beliefs. Early this afternoon I received an unexpected blessing and unlike the previous versions of myself, I will not go buck wild and forget to honor the Father with his 10%. I will be a good steward over my windfall. Watch me initiate my financial swag and appropriate these chips accordingly.
