Discoveries:
Today I discovered that money, while critically important and necessary for survival, is no longer the sustenance that feeds our dreams. Owen Laughlin, former Oklahoma State Senator, CFO and Candidate for Oklahoma State Treasurer said that “Money never starts an idea. It is always the idea that starts the money.” Imagine if we were all as optimistic. Too many times we let circumstance and challenges sideline our vision. We bog ourselves down trying to figure out a tangible solution to a mental problem. It’s our thinking. At a men’s conference the keynote speaker challenged the audience’s idealism. He said “Why are you convinced that you must to finance your own dreams? Use other people’s money! They want you to!” Don’t let money halt your vision. Find an investor and create a tight business plan and go after it.

Pop Quiz: How can you tell if your idea, product, service or business is good enough to change lives?
Answer: Your idea, product, service or business is simplistically effective and so modest that it makes people say “Didn’t somebody think of that already?”
High Points:
Today I had breakfast with my sons. I call them my two sequels: Tre and Xavier. Like their father, my children love a great meal and good conversation. We woke up early, got out all of the fixings and created a menu, and then we whipped up a delicious breakfast composed of bananas foster flapjacks, bacon and fruit. We sat around the table listening to Yo Gabba Gabba radio on Pandora talking about things that mattered to kids. You know, Nickelodeon, toys, which video games are cool and what activities to do for the day. I may not be wealthy (yet) but I am so rich!

Low Points:
Yesterday I thought about my general legacy versus my financial legacy and what I will leave behind when I die. I was saddened by the fact that my general legacy far outweighs my financial legacy. Some American families have accumulated so much wealth that it is generational; OLD MONEY. Family legacies like the Hilton’s, Rockefeller’s, Du Pont’s, Vanderbilt and Astor’s have set aside money for their children and their children’s children. Isn’t that awesome? Imagine how different your life would be if one of your elders left a wad of cash for you to get off to a good “life” start with?
