Discoveries:
Today I discovered that there is a distinct difference between hope and belief. Hope has more to do with chance and gambling whereas belief is more about assurance and faith. Life is short and hard, we need all the help we can get. If before a journey someone says to me, "I hope you do well," it won't have the same affect as if they were to say, ""I believe you'll do well." Although strikingly similar, they are two completely different ideals. I have a few close friends who are going through unpleasant circumstances right now. When they asked for my advice I spoke more to myself than I did to them. Good counsel should always be reflective and give the listener a glimpse into your life. When all was said and done, I ended both conversations by saying, " I believe you'll be just fine."
High Points:
I didn't get sick today! It seemed like everyone I spoke to, interacted with and came across had germs. I guess it is cold season. I feel bad for people who have to keep snot tissue, vapor rub and Tylenol PM capsules around to battle their colds. Couple the illness with seriously cold national weather and you have literally thousands of people shut in miserable and mad at the world. Perhaps that's your cue to be still, take a deep breath and sit down for a moment . Our bodies work hard and it's only fair that we give them the rest they deserve.
Low Points:
I sprained my back. Am I really that old? I have never had back problems. Perhaps its the 5-day-a-week workout regimen or the 4-5 hours of sleep I barely get each night. Maybe it was the over-the-top weight training I did on Friday trying to re-sculpt my hidden abs. Who knows, maybe it's because I am lovesick ? Where is my bottle of Tylenol?
Daily Insanity:
I watched a show called selling New York and was floored by the market value of a 2000 square foot condo with a terrace and a view. How much you ask? Guess....three hundred, four hundred, five hundred thousand...Nope, try $1.9 million. I can't even conceive of it. My home in Dallas, TX is pretty nice with almost twice the square footage but the cost is a fraction of what you would pay in New York. I love the Big Apple but someone please justify it to me. The weather is crummy, it's over-crowded and aside from Central Park, it's mostly a concrete jungle. Wait, I'm insane, I just remembered that I grew up in Chicago and we have the same ridiculousness in our downtown area, and in Hyde Park and in Lincoln Park and , hell,,,,pretty much everywhere. Disregard everything I said in my Daily Insanity section.
