Discoveries:
I discovered that today it’s all about the Chicago Bears. I am so proud to be a Chicago native right now. As you can imagine, it’s kind of hard to get respect when it comes to football living in Dallas. Not only is Dallas home to the most popular team in the National Football League (Dallas Cowboys), Dallas is arguably one of most recognizable sports franchises in all of sports. You should hear me debate with my good friend Artie about the validity behind the claim that the Dallas Cowboys are “America’s Team”. We go back and forth like bickering senior citizens sitting in front of a checkerboard in a retirement home. However, today is my day! I get to brag. My team is playing on the biggest stage for an opportunity to win the most coveted trophy in football; About Artie’s Cowboys: Well, they are at home, in front of their flat screen, sitting on their designer couch wishing they were on the field. Rejoice and join me in singing the theme song of 2011….BEAR DOWN!!!!
High Points:
I watched a movie called The Kids Will Be Alright and it was phenomenal. Aside from it centering around my favorite subjects in love and relationships, it co-starred one of my favorite actresses in Annette Bening and the song during the closing credits, The Youth by MGMT was absolutely amazing. It was an experimental soft rock hybrid ballad that had the most alluring chant. It is the kind of song that forces you to think about life and loss. It compels you to want more. I just had to run over to my piano to learn how to play it so it could enrich my soul well after the RED BOX movie was turned back in. I was able to find the song on Youtube and it pleased me to see that Annette Bening has received an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress. Open your minds and check the flick out. It’s marvelously uncomfortable to watch yet subtle enough to be believable. Finally,, don’t forget to listen for the song during the closing credits. (For those that don’t have the patience of Job, here is a hyperlink to the song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgZvIPL_BDA )
Low Points:
I missed church today; I purposefully decided to miss the services. Am I a bad person? Probably not, I recently have been feeling like I am no longer getting what I need to get from the leadership at my church home and perhaps it’s time for me to find a place to worship that is a better fit for my needs right now. Also, I would like to serve and although there are tons of opportunities to give back to the Lord at my current sanctuary, I would love to be somewhere where I can make an impact to people who really need it. I will pray about it and ask God to order my steps.
Daily Insanity:
I have developed a new addiction. Six words; Wheat Thins and Seasoned Roast Beef. Who knew that such an odd combination would be so tasty on my palate? I stumbled upon this killer combo while in Target this weekend. Saturday is free sample day at my neighborhood store. The clerk gave me a jello-shot cup full of the delectable wheat squares; I ate one and then forgot all about the rest of them. I walked over to the deli and ordered my usual half pound of seasoned roast beef. The deli clerk always lets me sample a slice of the meat to ensure its freshness. She handed me the sample then out of nowhere the idea surfaced in my mind to wrap the roast beef around the cracker. What happened next should be considered X-rated. I let out the most sensual moan from the delicious goodness that fell upon my tongue. I kid you not, try it. I know you are sitting at there, staring at the words wondering, “what is wrong with this guy, it’s only a snack,” but it’s not, it’s wonderful!

I initially thought baked potato chips or oatmeal raisin cookies and soymilk then decided let's just do dinner. During this game, I ate baked flounder, macaroni with nutritional yeast(rather vegan mac and cheese), and salad with lettuce, cherry tomatoes, broccoli, raisins, and light honey dijon mustard dressing with purified water beverage. Dessert was all-natural strawberry popsicle. Oops, you said snack right? Typical for a perimenopausal female to eat sweet or overeat. At least I ate healthy right? Snacks next sporting event, okay?
