Discoveries:
Today I discovered that I had a shot at carpentry! My wife has been fantasizing about a custom closet to house her clothes and shoe collection composed of more than 100 pair but we have never had the coin to get it done professionally nor did I have the stones to go to Home Depot and actually buy the materials and build it myself. Well my scaredy cat days are over! Yesterday I spent the better part of the evening erecting my piece de rĂ©sistance folks. It is magnificent, especially for a first try. I measured, I cut, I hack sawed and screwed until she was finished. It is an 8-tier movable shelving unit that has individual shelves that are more than five feet long and a foot wide. From a distance you can see my green hand artistry in all its glamour. Don’t hate, maybe I’ll build you one for a six pack, a few pizzas and cheap cigar.
High Points:
I have made it to day (5) of my liquid diet. When you can’t eat meat you think of several creative ways to make soup taste like it. Case and point, yesterday I feasted on a tomato basil puree with Italian herbs and spices that was infused with garlic bits and red onion. On the surface one would think that it couldn’t pack that much flavor but my oh my, it was delicious! This radical new diet is not about the food; it’s more about practicing restraint and humbling myself. I am going to see if I can stretch this thing out to a full month so I can get into my skimpy bikini so people will notice me on the beach. Just kidding, I could care less about how I look at some beach; in fact there isn’t a natural beach within 200 miles of where I live right now so there you have it .
Low Points:
I need to start getting my rest at night. In the last (4) days I have only enjoyed a combined (13) hours of sleep. That’s a horrible average. It’s not that I don’t try to fall away to sleep and enjoy sweet slumber, it’s just that I cannot relax because my mind is racing. My thoughts are not worry but quite simply ideas and possibilities. I think about the types of literature I should pen, the next guest I want to interview on my radio show, the next film I want to shoot or the next city I want to invade for ideas and inspiration. I never look forward to my dreams because my mental envisioning is much more vivid
Question
What types of things keep you awake at night?
