Discoveries:
Today I discovered that the Wrap Party was a success. Today I received more than two dozen phone calls and several emails about the turnout and the film in general. While I wished I could have been there to enjoy fine single malt scotch and great company, I enjoyed the elation from home. Chicago will always be home but Texas is where I lay my head, it’s where my family is and the most important things in my life. Don’t be sad though, I promise that next time I will exercise some flight miles or something.
High Points:
The tethered abyss that was my front yard is no more. The curb appeal is on point now after nearly four hours of sweat and exhaustion. Who knew that laying down mulch could be such a pain in the ass? Trust me; I have the lower back pain to prove it! Anyhow, now when I pull up to the driveway I won’t be staring at my neighbors yards with envy, instead I will be admiring my own.
Low Points:
I am going to need to start ho’ing or selling body parts to generate a new stream of revenue. I cannot continue to host shows, write books, attend events and shoot films if there is no coin involved. I am now a professional. I used to experience such an intense elation when I completed a project. I was a giddy as a schoolboy with a crush but not now. Naturally, as a creative, I enjoy the feeling of conceptualizing a vision but Big Daddy needs to make that paper too. I am gonna put some thought in to and devise a plan of how I can up the ante. Like the Joker said, “ When you’re good at something, never do it for free.”
Question
What should I start charging for Book Club appearances and other events?
