Discoveries:
Today I discovered that no matter how intelligent, funny, creative, innovative and able, sometimes your attire can distract an audience from your purpose. Today someone made a comment about how "put together" I looked and how sub par my clothing selections were for the image I was supposed to live up to. What was interesting about the comment was that it seemed completely out of place for the conversation I was having. Nevertheless, I made time to find the closest mirror I could find to witness my fashion faux pas. I really tried to see myself with their eyes. Looking at my imperfect colors and half-starched cottons, I could see why they felt the way they felt but I couldn't see what they saw. When I looked in the mirror I saw an intelligent, funny, creative, innovative and able man. Nothing more.
High Points:
I finally finished up my script for PINK! I read through the completed version and found that it was remarkable. It is the most complete work I have ever written for the screen. In addition, the final details for the Wrap Party with the cast of my new film L'Armour Perdu were all etched out. The fl yer looks amazing, I am giving out free Absolut Vodka and it's going to be in a nice spot. Woo Hoo!
Low Points:
I am low on cash for the weekend so everything fun that I'd like to do had better be free. Perhaps I can go web surfing and look up all of the things that I've always wondered about like Michael Jordan career statistics, Asian cuisine recipes or how to make different martini's. Or maybe I can enjoy the heat, the park is always a great place to enjoy free fun. Either way, I'm going to enjoy myself because I'm off work!
Question
How important is clothing to initial perception?
