Discoveries:
When you live in Texas you must endure the heat. I’m not talking about a warm front of say, eighty or ninety degrees. No, I mean that sweltering triple digit insane heat. Today I challenged myself to ride in my car all day without turning on the A/c. I had a near death experience. I kid you not; I almost pre-planned my repass and the bereavement ceremonies. The heat felt like a cruel monster whose only goal in existence was to torment the cool. Glad I made it home fast.
High Points:
I came in to a little extra cash, not enough to wipe out a student loan but enough to spring for the ingredients for a nice family meal. On the menu tonight: Thin cut sirloin, whole white potatoes and fresh corn on the cob with sherbet for dessert. I am going to feast like a king and watch the Dallas Cowboys preseason game tonight. Woo hoo!
Low Points:
My button-down shirt needs an EPA power wash. It smells like old foot fungus around my collar and for the first time ever, I had those underarm sweat stains. As I sit here typing, I am remembering the snide stares that other patrons in the food mart gave me. It was like they somehow knew I left the AC off trying to save on fuel. Oh well, let them stare! I should have put on a show for them.
Question
What modern convenience are you willing to sacrifice in order to save a little dough?
