Promise Me Slim

Discoveries:

Today I discovered that if you don’t get money you better get time! I don’t know what employers are thinking nowadays. Companies are paying their workers just enough to survive on but increasing the workload. How insane is it to expect a person to take on additional responsibility with no additional payoff? My guidance counselor was correct. You have two choices, you can have a career that is rewarding or you can have a career that makes you wealthy. The two ideas are totally different concepts. I am sure that there are people in the world with no kids, no debt, and no responsibilities who can afford the nerve it requires to live off of bologna and cereal like Theodore Huxtable from the Cosby Show but not me. Perhaps that is the where the paradigm shift needs to occur. Sacrifice a little bit now in order to live a lot bigger later.

UTTERLY AWESOME LINKS-OF-THE-WEEK

High Points:

Man, I’m looking college fit, again. In the last 30-days I shed another 10lbs by doing a daily power walk slash jog and really modifying my diet. My clothes from back in the day are fitting better, damned near loose. I was never fat. In fact, many would argue that I had just started to “fill out into my frame.” Those that truly know me would probably agree though. The older we get the more we need to pay attention to our lifestyle. The physical aspects of my lifestyle needed tweaking. The goal is to be at my college weight (205lbs) by October 1, 2012

Highlights:

·         Unless I’m celebrating and it’s triple distilled, I only drink H2O now

·         Music has fueled my exercise routines, I’ve discovered over 200 pieces of new music

·         My children see their father living a healthy lifestyle and they want to join in now too!

Low Points:

I have lost faith in people. I’m just ranting but I’m so disappointed in folks who ask for and get what they want then get it but they don’t treat the thing that they coveted with the respect it deserves. The sad thing is that people like this will sob to their family and friends and promise to God that if they could just have that one thing that they would move the earth to show how much they appreciate it. This is rarely the case. In fact, they take that thing for granted, embrace self-centeredness and forget to show thanks. Then once they finally understand it’s usually too late. They gave less than they received.

Themes for the Day
·         So you think you’re ready huh?
·         This time won’t be like the last time
·         Fool me once shame on me,,, (you know the rest)
·         Do you even know what you want for yourself?

DAILY INSANITY:
Three Words: Talk Is Cheap
Never make a promise that you can’t keep. When you don’t keep your commitments the value of your word deteriorates and loses its value. That’s how talk becomes cheap. No one wants to depend on undependable right? That’s why, when making assurances only commit to what you know you can deliver. The rest is upside.

BUZZ WORD: Onomatopoeia
