Just Quit

Discoveries:

Today I realized that people quit at things all too often. There is a difference between resigning and quitting. A resignation is formal, it’s acquiescence, and there is an agreement in place. Conversely, when one quits they cease, stop trying and all but admit and accept defeat. I despise quitters, almost as much as I detest bullies. A quitter doesn’t even want it for themselves. How can you help someone who doesn’t care to help themselves? I can’t even fathom of settling in to that state of mind.

High Points:
I have mastered the art of putting shades on to nonsense. Sunglasses are a great metaphor for shielding one’s self from the injurious elements of life.  Like sunlight, sometimes people toss emotional compost your way is a little too vivid for you to intake without a filter. Problems, drama, issues, complaints and negativity can stand out in our minds like a white light in a dark room or a sunburst in a purple sky. Shades help us handle the glare.

Themes for the Day
I’m not trying to hear your problems today man…
She’s always trying to do something under-handed..
It seems like drama follows them everywhere they go!

Low Points:
I mailed off more than two dozen letters to friends and family. Like, as in, real letters, handwritten letters on paper. My heart was heavy and I wanted to take some time to encourage them and boost their spirits.  Hopefully I did. The troubling thing is that no one wrote me back, yet. I suspect that after reading this blog they will feel exceedingly guilty, whip out their pad and pen then engrave me a ten page extract of the last few weeks of their lives, probably not. It’s cool though, I transcribed the letters from the heart and the only expectation I had was that the letters arrived to their destination. However, it did make me ponder this dimension of the human collective. It is puzzling to me how people can receive often but never give. Anyway, where are my postage stamps? I have a new batch of letters to mail.

DAILY INSANITY:
Two Words: Winter Wonderland
I am so excited about Christmas this year. Although my residence is in Dallas, Chicago will always be home, especially during the winter. Despite the frigid cold and bitter wind, there is warmth the city provides that makes you believe anything is possible!

Question
Why do you embrace winter and the holiday season?
