Discoveries:
Today I discovered that there are certain people in your life that you just can’t stay mad at. Trust me, I’ve tried. What is it about those special people that make their slights against you that much less significant that you have the power to forgive them, keep it moving and even laugh about the calamity later like it was good TV drama. Perhaps life is like good TV drama. You have your hero and heroine, your “what if” situation and a slue of challenges that make a favorable outcome damned near impossible. But then, in an instant, like being back from a commercial break, you two pick things back up like nothing ever happened. The quandary was cast into the sea of forgetfulness. It’s uncanny. No matter how hard you try, you just can’t stay mad at them. They crack a joke, show you their smile, send you that text message or that special note that takes the wind out of your sails and brings you back to when times were simpler. What an amazing talent.
High Points:
What would the soundtrack to your life sound like. In mine I hear strings, voices and harmonic minor chords that yield to emotion like pissed off drivers to locomotive tracks. My soundtrack is soothing, thought-provoking and mystifying because my life is the same. Today I was inspired by something I saw on the web. It was a feature I found online about the Chicago Public School system and the power teachers wield to impact the lives of the students they teach. The fact that my best friend Britt Burwell was featured in the video made it all the better. He spoke with such conviction and passion. As I forwarded the link to every inbox on earth I felt proud to typing the words, “ Look! My best friend was featured on TV!” I won’t spoil the surprise, instead I will let you check out the video and also a choral piece that fits the soundtrack of his life.

Low Points:
I stayed at work until 7pm on a Friday evening, yup, I did it. Call the police. It’s just that I need to make this bread In order to earn the money that I need to earn to have the quality of life that I wish to enjoy I need to put in the long hours. It gives me an advantage. These days we need all the recompense that we can be afforded . I could be jobless, which would leave me homeless and foodless. So leave me alone. If you don’t work, you don’t eat.
