Laugh Now! Cry Later

Discoveries:

Today I discovered that laughter soothes the soul. Have you ever been told a story that was so funny or heard a joke that was so artfully constructed and executed with the comedic genius liken to the greats of old. I don’t know about you but I love laughter. I love to belt out hysterical yells and hearty chuckles on a daily basis. Sometimes comedy can be so pure and so needed that it makes you feel like a kid again. The interesting thing about laughter is that it is contagious. It is also said that laughter adds years to your life. Milton Berle said that Laughter is an instant vacation. Imagine that. An instant vacation. How wonderful would it be to laugh and be whisked away to your favorite getaway? Insert more laughter into your day, life is serious enough, why complicate things by refusing to laugh? .

High Points:

I was a good Dad today even though sometimes it seems like a job. No wait, I was a great Dad. Generally, I am a busy man. Between the writing, my work as a Marketing Executive, the radio show, choir rehearsal, blogging and trying to stay on top of the social media monster, it gets hard trying to make time for the things that matter most. My children adore their father! I am saying that with the utmost humility and the most unassuming nature. Simultaneously, they need me, too. This is a tough world, how cool is it knowing that no matter what, your Dad has your back. Through your ups and downs, the good the bad and the ugly, I have been there for them. I have pulled out teeth, put dollar bills under the pillow, made birthday cakes, and taught them how to defend themselves in the event that someone chooses them. I have showed them compassion through my dealings with others, they know how to find something to eat in the fridge if they get hungry and Daddy doesn’t feel like cooking. We have been to ball games, event centers, bowling alleys, playgrounds, swimming pools and buffets. They love me because I first loved them. When they get older all they will have are the memories and recollections of years past to get them through the rough patches. All they will have are my words, both written and verbal, to help them survive. I take that job very seriously.

Low Points:

Since today’s blog has a theme of laughter, I must confess, I think I laughed at the wrong thing.
Please forgive me, I laughed at a man who spilled coffee on his suit and damned near crashed his Mercedes because he decided that instead of driving and focusing on the road he would much rather prefer to mix the perfect cup of coffee while simultaneously sending text messages back and forth on his touch screen phone. It was funny because a mile and a half prior he also decided to cut me off in traffic and flex the muscles of his souped up V8 motor. My Chrysler was no match for the German engineering of his coupe. Oh well, I wasn’t in a hurry anyway. Thankfully the man avoided killing himself, he did however, received a nasty 1st degree burn and black coffee stains on his button down. I hated to laugh at the aftermath of his crookedness but as Phyllis Diller said it, “A smile is a curve that sets everything straight.”

DAILY INSANITY:
2 Words – ROAD RAGE

Why do drivers feel the need to seek retribution from being slighted on the highway? They get taken advantage of in life and seemingly take little issue with it but when they are ill-treated on the road they have the courage to stand up for themselves and use their car, their weapon of choice, to inflict vengeance on the guy or gal in the other car. Sure it pisses you off, who wouldn’t be angered by a veering driver who has little concern with your motor initiatives? Let it go people. Don’t get killed trying to get payback. Live another day ,,,so you can laugh.

Question
What makes you laugh?
