Gone...

Discoveries:

Today I discovered that sometimes you need to just open your mouth. How many times have we all been guilty of failing to communicate? While I cannot stand the coined phrase, "Communication is Key," I do admire what it means. Perhaps its the "key" to understanding, to happiness, to great relationships. No matter what,  it's key to the important thing to acknowledge is that a closed mouth doesn't get fed. How can the sex starved housewife complain about not getting any when she won't open up the discussion and talk about it. How will the company-man get that raise, promotion or corner office is all he does is punch the clock. How can you truly be happy and truly get what you want if you don't open up your mouth and ask for it. Hell, demand it, expect it?

High Points:

I received an unexpected blessing. Today my mom (who is visiting by the way) accidentally destroyed my watch forever by washing it in a high-efficiency machine on the permanent press cycle. The watch was the only watch that I owned with a brown with a leather band. I adore the watch, truly I do but not enough to come down on my mom like a pissed of football coach. After all, she raised me, wiped my dirty ass when my diapers were filled with poo, she protected me, fed me and kept a roof over my head. Hollering at her was not an option, besides, it wasn't like it was a Movado or Rolex. It was a Kenneth Cole watch. Anyhow, she felt so bad that she decided to bless me with a new watch. How awesome is that? Just a few days earlier I purchased a watch for a friend to commemorate his birthday and now I have been blessed with a new watch of my own. Amazing! You give and you get.

Low Points:

Okay,,,,so I spent $7 on a lunch meal at the food court in the mall and was thoroughly disappointed by how flippin' nasty it was. How do you mess up mac 'n cheese....I mean really. The food was supposed to have a Creole flair but all I tasted was pepper and a lot of Lawry's seasoned salt. ATTENTION: There are other spices in the supermarket other than salt, pepper and Lawry's.

DAILY INSANITY: Nate Dogg is gone y'all.....like really!
Question

I was shocked when I found out that my guy Bob Ross not only passed away, but had been dead for about 4-5 years. For those that don't know about Bob Ross he was the ever talented artist that used to have a morning or afternoon show about painting, that usually on channel 11 or PBS. I mean this cat could show you how to paint an entire forest of happy trees, a babbling brook and a Godly sunset in about 30 minutes. If it's still not ringing a bell; most people identified him with his signature tight afro that he rocked better than any white man has ever rocked to date! Yeah I was taken back when my wife let me know that he passed away years ago and that his show had been running in syndication for quite a while now. I remember way before I ever experienced cable, after had breakfast and finished my chores, on Saturday afternoons I would watch his show, try to learn some new techniques for my art, but always I would be amazed at how talented this cat was.

In the middle of researching a song for a student of mine to sing at a competition, I came across someone I had to put on the list. "Moses Hogan." Moses first of all was a phenomenal African-American composer which my buddies and I had the pleasure of meeting in "High School!" Words cannot describe how his arrangements touched those that would hear his music. Sadly, he died in 2003 at the early age of 41. Just one year before I graduated with my Masters degree and started down the same career path as him. To much avail we have volumes of his work to keep us entertained and spiritually evoked for years to come. It makes me wonder being 31 now, what legacy would I leave if I knew that I only had 10 years left to live???
