V-Day

Discoveries:

Today I discovered that sometimes it doesn't take Valentine's day rolling around for you to realize who loves you and who loves you not. Pressure bursts pipes and when most are faced with a challenge they either run from it or they put up a stellar performance in order to win. Valiant efforts are just that, valiant. Whenever you hear about a person, a team, an army a nation putting up a valiant effort it usually means that, no matter how hard they fought, no matter how driven they were to win, in the end, they lost. How does one know when to throw in the towel, in any situation. So as Valentine's Day rolls around I challenge you to be honest with yourself, your mind and heart and show love to those who love you and refuse it if you are unwilling to show reciprocity. It's only fair and its only right.

Possible Themes For Valentine's Day:

Love who loves you

Face the music

Appreciate Beauty

Pour out your soul

Laugh Now Cry Later

Distance Makes The Heart Grow Fond

Blue Sky Situation

High Points:

I realized another point of view. Have you ever used your camera to take a photo from one angle only to realize the if you moved, or refocused the lens there was a better angle that could produce a better picture. It's all about perspectives. Sometimes I feel like I'm too smart for my own good. So smart that I'm dumb. Not in the literal sense but in the metaphorical sense. There are signs, all around us and just like the rules of the road, when you don't follow signs there's a chance that you can get into an accident or worse lose it all and die but new perspectives shouldn't come post-mortem. Being a true genius is more about what you understand rather than what you know. Truly smart people realize original ideas differently, they don't discover them, they realize them and allow the epiphany to discover them. Don't chase it, let it chase you.

Low Points:

I lost. When you are used to winning, losing hits you much harder than normal. I love to win but I hate losing much more. Does this pose a problem for me, for those like me or does it constitute an unprecedented will to succeed. I don't believe I lost because I didn't try or because I wasn't honest in my efforts. I lost because of circumstances that I cannot control. I'm not Superman, sometimes it seems like it I am but I'm just a man. Competition should not be about winning or losing though, it should be about playing the game. I will not let competition persuade me and assist in destroying my hearts candor. Instead, like a good sport, I will congratulate the winner and look forward to competing again.

Daily Insanity:

Five words: Give me my friggin refund. I completed my taxes almost two weeks ago but the U.S Government has decided to delay the processing of it because of some new law. I wish I could receive a request, work order or new business, get paid then say "I'll get back to you, give me a month or two." It's crazy, I don't know about you but I have bills and babies. I can use the financial jump start . It would help with many or my "natural" wants and my "spiritual" needs. If someone gave me a million dollars I would steward the money appropriately. First tithes, then charity, then obligations, then pleasures...I promise. I'll take the million in unmarked bills in a black gym bag, near Love Field, on a Tuesday in the early afternoon.

Question

There aren't many things we have control over for the short time we have on this blue rock. Amazingly so, choosing how to express our gratitude to that special someone is something that we do. Who doesn't like feeling appreciated? However, sadly I must admit just how I see people only don their Kente cloth and try to remember the significance of the Black, Red and Green in February, as if there's a law that prohibits black folk from celebrating their culture for the other 11 months out the year lol; people shouldn't need a holiday to celebrate their love for one another. Now before you start canceling your dinner reservations at Chey Whitey, I didn't say you shouldn't celebrate it. I'm just saying make it an extension of what we already the other 364 days of the year and I don't mean to digress, but sometimes a holiday like Valentines Day can give you a reason to crack open that 25 year old bottle of YAK, get that back massage you've been putting off for the last 4 months or as Lil' Jon would say lets see if we can break last years record to "Skeeee, skee, skeee, skie a skee, skeet!" Turn off the cellphones, get unplugged from all our technology, you might learn something new about yourselves.

Valentines Day is everyday in my relationship. I believe in celebrating our love 365 days a year; 366 in leap year. Everyday I express my love with the simple things like, back massage, peck on the cheek, getting his meals when he is hungry, giving my child love everyday, and sharing everything in my live with the both of them. We don't need a holiday to express our love; everyday is Valentines Day in my relationship with my child and her father.
