Discoveries:
Today I discovered that everyone should have a beverage and a hobby that they love. My two favorites are coffee and writing. Now I love a nice scotch paired with a movie, a great fruit juice with a good book or petrified water and some exercise too but my all-time favorite is a great cup of java paired with a blank canvas to berth my ideas. There’s a certain mystique about taking in a warm cup of gourmet coffee and having the creativity to convert a blank page into a literary masterpiece. This week I took out time and wrote 20 pages in my new novel PINK and enjoyed a few cups of designer coffee from Costa Rica. It was a sweet, smooth, light blend that tasted even more splendidly once I added fresh cinnamon, flavored creamer and 2 packages of Sweet N’ Low. Try the pairing this week and see if it doesn’t help you approach life differently. Remember, a beverage and a hobby.

High Points:
I finally went shopping. I had five items on my “to-buy” list: A new briefcase, a new jacket, a new collection of vitamins, a leather portfolio and deluxe razors. I spent half a day trying things on, looking at labels, finding sales, driving to stores and seeking out the best deal. It was a cathartic experience. For those few hours I didn’t think about work or proposals. I didn’t hear crying babies or fighting cats; I didn’t wash a single dish or have to clean a room. Now I see why those rich housewives on those reality shows spend most of their time shopping. It’s fun!
Low Points:
I fell asleep in my clothes,,,,again. That’s trifling. A normal person takes the time to undress and slip on their jammies but not me. The last two evenings I have been so exhausted at the end of the night that I fell into slumber. Sleep found me quickly, quicker than a New York minute. As a child, I can remember watching my younger brother fall asleep within seconds of hitting the pillow, it used to make me so envious because I would toss and turn for hours while he snored and rolled up in his covers. I wish you could have seen it. I was in a pair of wrinkled jeans and a v-neck tee knocked out I slept good too!
Daily Insanity:
Two Words: Clearance Sale - - - Aaaahhh, those faithful words paired together perfectly like Red Velvet cake and cream cheese icing. When I saw those clearance sale signs I got excited! What special deals were waiting for me inside the stores? I felt like I had an advantage against other shoppers and at least for a moment, all was right with my wallet.
Question
What are some of the coolest items you’ve ever bought at a clearance sale?

Speaking of clearance sales my wife and I reintroduced ourselves back into Sams' Club this weekend. It was very nostalgic because it reminded of how broke I was in college. Back then at one point I could not afford the initial 40 dollar membership fee + extra dough for groceries! Wow... How far I have come.
But yesterday I tell you between flat screens, closet organizers, digital cameras, Ipods and $500 mattresses we had to run out of there before I spent our whole refund check. However, we did settle on buying two hypoallergenic pillows, a bottle of Caramel Apple Wine, stuffed salmon w/ broccoli and cheese soup and a chocolate cake all for $37.00. Now that's a deal.
