Good Daddy

Discoveries:
Today I discovered that a good football game can cure a bad week! Let me set the mood; Brats, beer, peanuts, chips, your favorite chair, your home team jersey and the nicest High-Definition TV you can find. Can you feel it? Each week men take on so much. We have to be Husbands, fathers, boyfriends, employees, counselors, protectors and bread-winners but on Sunday we can just be men. Although I live in Dallas, each year I hope and pray for my Chicago Bears to be victorious even though I question the coaches play calling and the tenacity of the defense. Go Bears!!!

High Points:
I was a great Dad today. It didn’t cost much either, most of the time it never costs me anything to gain cool points with my children. It’s simple, kids are simple. Buy em’ some discount candy, a few burgers from the drive-thru and go to the park or movies and have fun. They’ll love you for it. My good Daddy recipe is the following: (1) Airbender movie, (2) Hershey bars, (2) orders of fries, (2) hours at the park, (1) hour of discussion about what’s important to them (no matter how trivial it may sound) and presto! You are a great Daddy, at least for the weekend.

Low Points:
I’m coming down with a cold man, damn! I was hoping to avoid that awkward summertime cold but I simply could not. Maybe it’s the germy people I am exposed to each day, perhaps it’s my weakened immune system because of this radical diet or it could be the dreaded ceiling fan that I sleep under each week. I can hear my Grandmother now, “it’s not good to fall asleep up under that air John.” I need a medicinal solution now! I am not going to be hemmed up all week coughing up phlegm.

Question
What are the BEST ways to get rid of a cold fast?
